Red-vented Bulbul Pycnonotus cafer stanfordi is common resident extreme western Yunnan, where usually the predominant bulbul in parks and towns. HABITAT Open forests, scrubby areas, cultivated land. ID Face, weak crest, and throat black; ear coverts brown; nape, mantle, and breast grey scaled brown. Belly grey; vent bright red. Wings brown with whitish tips on coverts forming thin wing bars. Rump whitish. Tail dark with white tips. Juvenile duller. BARE PARTS Bill, feet black. VOICE Grating chatter and clear whistles. — Craig Brelsford
