Thick-billed Green Pigeon Treron curvirostra nipalensis, male, Skytree Nature Reserve (21.627337, 101.588050), Xishuangbanna Prefecture, Yunnan, China, elev. 720 m (2,360 ft.), March. Thick-billed Green Pigeon ranges Nepal to northeast India, Southeast Asia, Philippines, and Greater Sundas. In China, nipalensis resident southwest and south Yunnan and hainanus Hainan. Inhabits forests in lowlands. Distinguished from Ashy-headed Green Pigeon T. phayrei by thick, green-tipped bill with red base and bright green orbital skin. Mantle maroon in male, dark green in female. (Craig Brelsford)
