Mute Swan is a well-known ornamental fixture in parks throughout Western Europe and North America. Wild Mute Swan range from Europe to the Russian Far East and China. Mute Swan is a rare winter visitor to the Chinese coast and Shanghai. Some, like this individual, are of uncertain provenance, possibly being escapees or feral. (Craig Brelsford)
