Himalayan Vulture Gyps himalayensis pauses as it rips apart a lamb carcass, near Ela Pass (35.497608, 99.511449), Qinghai, China, elev. 4000 m (13,120 ft.), July. Dark brown juvenile looks passively on, never once interrupting the meal of the adult. Himalayan Vulture is a common scavenger on the Tibetan Plateau. (Craig Brelsford)
