  1. Your photos of the Eurasian Wren are absolutely amazing. Is the bird in China identical to the European bird as I collect photos, reports and figurines of this great singer.

    Did you know this little bird was put on our smallest coinage, the farthing, many years ago as it was believed then that it was the smallest British bird.

    Sorry to waffle on but it’s nice to find someone that had the ability and skill to photograph this elusive bird.

    1. Eurasian Wren Troglodytes troglodytes comprises 28 subspecies. On Great Britain I believe the common ssp. is indigenus. China has various ssp. None are common to both the U.K. and China. The race on Taiwan, taivanus, is endemic. I was unaware that the wren was on the farthing. The choice makes sense. Thanks for writing, and please continue to enjoy shanghaibirding.com.
