Ferruginous Duck breeds on lakes and marshes from Eastern Europe to Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, and Northeast China. The iris of the female and juvenile is brown; white in male. Also known as Ferruginous Pochard, Ferruginous Duck is an uncommon winter visitor and passage migrant in Shanghai.
